Peter Stone Horses Co.
I have a few Model Horses, and a while ago i found out about a company in the states, called Peter Stone Modelling Co. They make quality models made in USA. Unlike other modelling companies, that i am aware of, Stone Horses are sculpted, reproduced, painted, sealed in a finish, in their one factory in the US. A common mythology is that they are made from stone. This is not the case. Stone Horses, were first made by a man named Peter Stone in 1950, hence the name.
It took me forever to find their website, and a few weeks later, a beautiful Pintabian (Pinto x Arabian) stallion caught my eye. His manufactures name, is "Found A Peanut". He is a dappled grey, Tobiano horse, with brown eyes, and gorgeous shading and details! When he arrives I will post some photos!
Stone Horses are quite expensive, depending on the mould, amount of re-sculpturing, and paint pattern. They can range from around $90 USD to around $900 USD for the OOAK (one of a kind). OOAK's are one of a kind pieces that will not be reproduced on a large or small scale. Some runs of models are limited, and they are made in runs from around 3-10. Some runs will be manufactured in runs of several hundred at a time.
For more info, check out their website at www.stonehorses.com for more info on how they make them, what model horses are, collecting, and to look/purchase a model.
